Real Drivers battle on iRacing
Dale Earnhardt junior, a long time sim race fan/driver is expected to participate in the second annual Race of Champions on December 12, 2012 which features real world drivers battling on-line. A $2500 in purse fee will be donated to the charity of overall winners choice. This is a win win win for all involved.
The format set last year with two races including an oval and a road course will remain unchanged. The tracks and vehicles selected this year include Iowa in the trucks and at Watkins Glen in the MX5. I’m hoping the transition period between races will be a little smoother from lessons learned last year. With spotter functionality unleashed in the last iRacing update, I wonder if iRacing may have something special up their sleeve for this event? Many of last year’s racers are expected to return for another shot at the title along with a few brand new faces to the event. Stay tuned for details.
I’m sure that Scott Speed is looking for a little redemption after getting dumped on lap one at the Glen last year. He’s my odds on favorite to take home the trophy this year.
